Few industries still potentially offer a ‘job for life’, but the railway remains proudly one of them.
Between them, Kevin and Craig have nearly a century of rail experience – and a deep love for all things rail and trains (they’re both proud ferroequinologists).
This week, Kevin marked 50 years in the industry. He started in Albury, NSW, as a 16-year-old. He’s been everything, from a ‘call boy’ (bicycle messenger who let drivers know about upcoming shifts in the days when many didn’t have a phone), to a driver and a network controller, and a variety of things in between. Kevin’s worked across Australia and now brings that vast knowledge to our Customer Service Delivery Team, helping to bring the pieces of the puzzle that is 24/7 logistics together.
Craig, a stalwart of the State’s rail industry, started as a trainee driver at 20 years of age at Inveresk in Launceston. He’s spent 45 years working right here in Tasmania! After spending many years as a driver he’s now shaping the next generation of rail operators and drivers as one of our expert Training and Assessment Officers.
Thank you, Kevin and Craig, for your dedication, wisdom and passion for keeping the rail moving - past, present and future.
