As part of the development, Toll Group will be increasing their usage of Tasmania's rail network.
TasRail CEO Damien White said the development signals Toll's growing confidence in expanding the use of freight rail in Tasmania.
“Since TasRail recommenced rail services to Toll's Launceston facility in March 2012, more than 60,000 containers have moved through that facility on rail,” Mr White said.
“This generates significant environmental, safety and business benefits to the Toll Group, its customers and the community.
“TasRail congratulates the Toll Group on their vision and commitment to the new transport hub and we look forward to working with Toll Group and the wider northern Tasmanian community on this much-needed economic boost for our region.”
