With investment in network upgrades and new assets by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, combined with TasRail’s focus on customer services, operational efficiencies and innovation, Tasmania now has a safe, modern and reliable freight rail service.
This is good news for users of the Tasmanian Freight System – it means increased competition, greater efficiencies and lower prices. It’s also great news for the Tasmanian community because more freight on rail means less heavy vehicles on roads – and that means safer roads, less road maintenance costs, and avoided road accident and pollution costs.
