The Burnie Rail Station is to be demolished to make way for the Burnie Port Optimisation Project/Expansion. TasRail staff based at the Burnie Rail Station will relocate to the TasRail Workshop, although it will require upgrade and modifications to accommodate the increase in personnel.
TasRail today announced that it has awarded the works contract for the refurbishment and upgrade of its Burnie Workshop to local company Stubbs Constructions. Required works include:
- Installation of office space
- Refurbishment and increase in toilet amenity
- Training and meeting room and staff amenities
- Upgrade to electrical and other utility services to address safety improvements and compliance
TasRail staff are in the process of vacating the Station Building and will relocate into temporary premise nearby for the duration of the Workshop Upgrade works – expected to take up to 12 weeks.
TasRail congratulates Stubbs Constructions on being awarded the tender.
