| Resumption of Train Services |

Train services resumed across the network this afternoon, after TasRail crews worked throughout the weekend to repair damage caused by last Friday’s severe weather events. Flooding across the North West Coast s caused extensive damage to sections of the Western Line, particularly in the Railton area, and across sections between Deloraine and Devonport. Infrastructure crews worked tirelessly to stabilise a landslip area near Ridgely, install temporary repairs to a section of a bridge and a sink hole at Railton, and to repair approximately 20 kilometres of intermittently damaged track. Chief Executive Officer, Damien White praised the efforts of TasRail employees involved in the repair effort and thanked customers for their support and understanding. “We are working closely with our customers to ensure that scheduled services can accommodate any freight backlog that may have resulted from this disruption”, Mr White said. |
